DRAIN: Carl
Passed away at home with family by his side, on May 22, 2024
Carl Drain of Douro-Dummer, in his 87th year. Beloved husband of 57 years to June. Loving father of Kevin (Julie) and Mark (Alisha) and grandfather of Holly, Matthew, Landon, Lily, Ireland, Josie and Cove. Carl is survived by his sisters Sylvia Patterson, Phylis Watts, Loretta Gould and brother Wayne Drain, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Earl Drain and Anne Armstrong.
Carl lived a life of integrity full of deep love for his family. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, knowledge and powerful life lessons. Most people who met Carl were taken by his strong presence, soft heart and witty sense of humour.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Carl lived his life cherishing the moments spent in the company of loved ones and horses. He took great pride in working hard and had careers at CPR railway, Trentway Bus lines and Peterborough County Roads Department. He also had many years enjoying his passion for horses as an active member and President of the Ontario Percheron Horse Association. Through those years, Carl most enjoyed supporting youth with showmanship, driving and horsemanship and best of all how to negotiate a solid horse deal!
Carl contributed to his community through endless acts of generosity. He was always available with his time, truck, tractor, trailer or whatever else was needed. He gave from his heart, never wanting recognition or anything in return.
Carl’s impact on our lives will forever remain. Although he will be missed dearly, his legacy lives on in all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
