Obituary of John Frederick Twomey
TWOMEY, John Frederick
It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of John Twomey on Thursday January 31, 2019 in his 72nd year, after a 3 year struggle with Parkinson’s. John was a 30 year employee of General Motors. While employed at G.M. he owned and operated Twomey Water Haulage. Never one to sit idle, in his retirement he operated a snowplow and grass cutting business. A man of great character and highly respected in the community, all it took was a phone call and John was the first to lend a hand. Cherished husband of 47 years to Lenore (Leahy), proud dad to Tracey McConnery (Greg) and Amy Twomey (Chris Grady). Doting “Pako” (grandpa) to his favourite little souls in the world, Logan and Alexis. Predeceased by his parents Lorne and Thelma and his brother Doug (Bev). Survived by his sisters Lorna Arnold (Ed), Marlene McWilliams, Phyllis Monks (Paul), Vera Milne (Colin), brothers Raymond Twomey (Cindy), Greg Twomey (Jackie) and many nieces and nephews. As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Douro, on Saturday March 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Reception to follow at the Church Hall. Private Family Interment at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or Parkinson Canada and may be made by contacting THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
