Dear Sheridan family. I was saddened to hear of John's passing when my father, George Morita, informed me of the event. I spent a few summers 'growing up' at the Partners with and around John. Quite frankly, the first summer he scared me silly as I had never met such a potentially fiery individual in my life. Yet underneath it all, I began to appreciate his big heart and his strength and perserverance. Years later when I began shooting and he would PM on my jobs, I respected and valued his support and his damn willingness to try. He was a great ally and his experience was fortifying to any D.O.P. Even today when I recall some memories of working around and with him, I am caused to smile, shake my head and say 'They don't make'em like they used to' I wish all his relatives and friends, strength and warmth, like he demonstrated in his unique way, to me. God Speed Canonball! Rhett Morita
