Obituary of Judith Anne McCaughey

McCaughey, Judith “Judy” Anne (nee Sanderson)

 

Passed away at Ross Memorial Hospital on September 25th, 2024. Judy McCaughey of Bobcaygeon, in her 85th year. She was born on October 16th, 1938, to parents Dorothy and Albert Sanderson in Toronto, Ontario.

 

Judy attended Toronto General Hospital, school of nursing and graduated in 1959 as a registered nurse. She married James “Jim” McCaughey on September 12th, 1959 and they had 3 children, Stephen, Brian and Karen “Kerry”, whom was adopted in 1969 at 4 months of age. 

 

She started her career as a registered nurse at Queensway General Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. The majority of her career was at Etobicoke General Hospital where she worked as a R.N. in the emergency department.  The last several years of Judy’s nursing career she was in a supervisory/ management position at the medical laboratory collection station in Etobicoke before retiring. 

 

Judy enjoyed hosting social visits and spending time with family and friends especially at her family cottage known as “The Glen” on Sturgeon Lake. Judy's favorite routine at the cottage was to fish off the dock every evening before the sunset. Judy had a green thumb and a knack for landscaping, she was very proud of her beautiful flower gardens. 

 

Judy was a loving, supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and most recently great grandmother. She was always proud of her family’s accomplishments. 

 

Judy and Jim just recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Their love and strong bond for one and other made their journey through life a rare and beautiful thing. Judy and Jim still like to recollect how they started out their life, as high school sweethearts. 

 

Judith is survived by husband James “Jim”, children Stephen (Joanne), Brian (Janette), and Kerry (Kevin), grandchildren Derek, Leah (Chris), Sasha and Joshua and great grandchild Jack. 

 

She was predeceased by parents Albert and Dorothy Sanderson, sister Helen (George) Groome and grandson Adam McKenna.
