COLLINS: William Ronald “Bill”
Passed away peacefully at the P.R.H.C. on Saturday September 14, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Bill Collins of Lakefield in his 83rdyear. Bill enjoyed a 38 year career serving in various roles with Canadian General Electric in Peterborough. As a young man in the early 60's, he started Barbering for Barney’s in Lakefield, and continued his own "Bill's Barber Shop" part time, through the years and into retirement. He will be remembered as a generous and kind hearted barber in the area. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Parish and the Knights of Columbus. As long-time community members, Bill and Lorriane enjoyed, along with their close friends, travelling in their trailer to many Country and Bluegrass Jamborees throughout Canada and the United States, to enjoy friendship and music. Bill is loved and missed by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine (nee Barrett). Dear father of Chris (Ann-Marie) of Whitby and Kirk (Kim) of Woodville. Loving Papa of Ryder, Malikia Henry, Jacob and Zachary. Survived by his brother Bob Collins (Kathy) of Barrie, nephews Tim and Jeff and niece Amy. He will be fondly remembered by many cousins and all of his extended family, and his many friends throughout the Lakefield and Peterborough area. Friends and relatives may call at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield on Friday September 20, 2024 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church on Saturday September 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Interment Lakefield Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
