Obituary of Ruth Joy Staughton
Ruth Joy Staughton (“Joy”) of Bobcaygeon, Ontario (nee Roberton born November 8, 1929 in Toronto), peacefully passed away at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario on September 7, 2024 after a long fight with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Prior to moving to Victoria Place in 1983, Joy was a dedicated swimming instructor with Scarborough Parks and Recreation for over 30 years. In her spare time, Joy enjoyed golfing, curling and spending time with friends and family either in Pointe au Baril, Bobcaygeon and Naples, Florida.
Joy is predeceased by her loving husband, Robert (“Bob”) Staughton, and son, Willam (“Billy”) Staughton and his wife, Debbie Staughton. Joy is survived by her daughter, Lori (Rob) Allingham, her three grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Allingham, Erica (Derek) Darnbrough and Ryan Allingham (Terralyn Burkholder), and great-grandchildren, Addley, Landon, Skylyn, Charlotte and Hayes.
The family would also like to extend a warm thank you to Heather and Mike Mayhew and Joy’s friends, Allyson and Ron Scott, Dianne and Dennis Hearse and Gaby Gill/Joe Larocca, who were by Joy’s side until the end, and all of those at Victoria Place.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at 57 Lakewood Crescent, Bobcaygeon.
