Passed away peacefully at Hospice Peterborough on Saturday August 24, 2024. Donna Whetung (nee Farrow) of Curve Lake in her 83rd year. Donna grew up in Peterborough County (Lakefield) and had close family ties in Kawartha Lakes (Fenelon Falls). She graduated Kemptville Agricultural College. Donna worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a dietitian, Lakefield District Secondary School as a liaison officer, Union of Ontario Indians as Director of Education and throughout her professional career privately operated Curve Lake Marina and rental properties. Her achievements included her extensive Post Secondary Education, organizing school trips to Scandinavia and British Colombia, working with the Elder’s of Curve Lake, Amway, Enrich, developing Arrow Bay Road and Totem Heights commercially, residential landlord, committee member managing the reconstruction of the Curve Lake Church, her annual corn roast, and raising 4 children and grandchildren. Her door was always open to friends and travellers and she deeply loved her husband, Jack, and her family. Beloved wife of the late Jack Whetung (2018) and sister-in-law of Jack’s siblings Lionel, Mel, Ken, Katherine, Arlene, Willard, Wilma, and Leland (Jacobs). Loved and missed by her children Londa Whetung-Watson (Jeff) of Curve Lake, Ronald Whetung (Rosetta) of Curve Lake, Lisa Whetung (Brad) of Curve Lake and Lloyd Whetung (Janice) of Curve Lake. Grandma is remembered by Mitchell Fawn (Megan), Alicia McCready (Michael), Kayla Cabate (Carlos), Ashley Hinze Marois (Chris), Alexa Bennett (Zack), Celina Sullivan (Luke), Jordan Whetung (Brooke Crowe) and Dainna Taylor (Brandon Hanna). Dear great grandmother of Michael, Sophia, Jackson, Luke, Veronica, Mikayla, Ethan, Jazmyn, Levi, Dominick, Khaylea, Ava, Lena, Gianna, Blake and Brett. Survived by her sisters Lois Dunford (the late Barry), Linda Dunford (John) and brothers Elwood “Woody” Farrow (Brenda) and Wayne Burndt. Also survived by foster brother Tom Hull and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Roy and Velma Farrow and foster brother Fred Glover. Friends and relatives may call at the Curve Lake Christian Assembly on Wednesday September 4, 2024 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at the church on Thursday September 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Interment Curve Lake Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Curve Lake Community Centre.
