Obituary of Harold John Lunn
LUNN, Harold
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear father and husband, Harold John Lunn, at Pleasant Meadow Manor on August 21st, 2024. Beloved husband to Marjorie and cherished father to John (Susan), Karen (Greg) and Alan (Nora). Harold will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Jamie, Mandy (Dalton), Monique, Keagan, Andrew (Lindsay), Ciara (Dawson), Erin, great grandchild Ronan, brother Jim (Connie) in Tasmania, Australia and sister-in-law Reta. Harold is predeceased by his parents, George and Annie Lunn and siblings Jessie, George, Walter, Bob and Joyce.
Harold was born in England and at the age of 12, came to Canada in 1948 with his brother Walter and settled in the Norwood area. Harold was sponsored by the Parker dairy farm, working and living there while attending school. He loved the farm life and knew he wanted his own farm. So, at the age of 21 he joined the Canadian Navy, based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, for a five-year term so he could save enough money for a down payment. At a YWCA dance, Harold met Marjorie Rose Allen. They were married in 1960 and spent the next 64 years of marriage building their lives together, improving their farm and raising three children. Harold also worked as Caretaker at both the elementary and high schools until retiring in 2000. Along with his custodial duties, Harold fixed many jammed and broken zippers in winter coats often hearing, “Go see Mr. Lunn”. He was a supporter of his community as a Sea Scout Leader, minor hockey coach and in later years, volunteering for Community Care Services. Harold was also an entertainer singing and playing guitar in various country bands for many years.
