Obituary of Peter Joseph Bowland
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Peter Joseph Bowland on July 18, 2024. Born April 4,1959 in Hamilton, Ontario, Peter moved to Bobcaygeon with his family at the age of 13. He grew to love the village of Bobcaygeon and even though he explored other areas in this beautiful country and abroad to live, he returned to Bobcaygeon to his family and friends to put down roots of his own. An entrepreneur at heart, Peter’s boundless energy allowed him to hone his skills in many different areas including: boat building with his father, auto and boat repair businesses, home construction, security and surveillance systems, home and industrial automation with his brothers and tile setting. Forever he will be remembered for his big heart, his loving concern for those he loved, for being that very gifted someone we could rely on to be there for help and advice, for giving bear hugs and unwavering support through the tough times and for cranking up the tunes, raising a glass and celebrating the good times. His ever-ready smile and open and easy attitude towards all those who met him made him an instant and endearing friend to many.
He leaves behind his mother, Janet Bowland, siblings: Tom (Betsy), Catherine (Jeffrey), Ted (Cathryn), David (Mary). Predeceased by his parents Joseph Bowland, Lorain Roberts and sister Janie. Survived by dear friend Lynda Cartan, many loved nieces and nephews, and the one who put so much happiness on his face, Shannon McDonald.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday July 25, 2024 from 1-4 pm, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 239, 96 King St E, Bobcaygeon (With words to be spoken at 2:00pm).
Following the celebration of life at the Legion family and friends are welcome back to the house for fellowship.
