Kirk and Lori
You probably don’t remember us. It was 30 years ago (plus) that we met when we visited at your farm. Your dad had a tremendous impact on us. He came to Haliburton in the summer when he worked for Parks Canada. Where the crew parked their trailers for many years was owned by the local municipality. Unbeknownst to your dad who was head of the crew, we purchased that property and were not particularly welcoming when we returned home from work one day to a bunch of trailers parked on our property! After meeting your dad and getting the story we allowed them to stay and a beautiful friendship began that lasted some years u til they stopped bringing the crew to Haliburton. We built a house during that time in our property and, let me tell you, without your dad’s incredible skills and willingness to work for suppers I cooked him, I’m not sure we would have made it! On more than one Monday, when he returned after a weekend away, he made us rip out things we did and do it again, correctly. lol. He was a great story teller and was a great entertainer as well as a much respected and loved man. He talked alot about you two and loved you kids so very, very much. I believe that relationships are for a “reason, a season or a time”. I guess ours was for a season but, we never forgot him and loved and missed him ever after. Life gets busy, kids, jobs, responsibilities. You always end up regretting not keeping in touch better. I am so sorry for your loss of this wonderful man. Wishing you peace during this very sad time. God Bless Jackie and Tim Mayhew
