Obituary of Chuck McDonald

McDonald, Charles “Chuck”

On the morning of April 6, 2024 Charles Dexter McDonald passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife Janet McDonald and their two children Shauna Beard and Scott McDonald.

A warm and dutiful husband, dad and grandpa, career educator and volunteer, Chuck dedicated his life to family and to serving his community. Born in 1939, Mr. McDonald grew up near Gage Park in Hamilton and attended McMaster University from 1959-1962. Following graduation, he settled in Burlington to raise his family and work as a teacher and principal for the Halton Board of Education from 1963 -1996. In retirement, Chuck moved to the family cottage in Dorset, Ontario where he volunteered as president of the local lake association and became an accomplished craftsman of wooden toys and fine watercraft. He and Jan enjoyed travel, many leisure pursuits, and precious time with their grandchildren. Chuck moved to Fenelon Court in 2019 where his good nature and dignity were honoured, and his gentle laughter was a confirmation of joy.

Mr. McDonald will be remembered fondly by his family Jan, Scott and Jackie, Shauna and James, grandchildren Emma, Jackson, Foster and Calder, brother Dave, and by his many friends. Cremation has taken place, arrangements entrusted to HENDREN FUNERAL HOME MONK CHAPEL, 6 Helen Street, Bobcaygeon.
