To Doreen's Family From Mary Mogford and John and Alexandra Campbell:
Doreen and David were much loved lifelong friends of Tom Campbell, our beloved husband and Dad. I was so grateful to have met them through Tom and to have come to love them both very dearly. Doreen has always been, for me, a strong, wise and almost stately woman and I have admired and loved her for it. She was so very dear to my Tom and they and David had so many shared happy memories – it was a delight to hear them talking. Since both David and Tom died, my own family have many times talked about them very fondly. For John and Alexandra, David and Doreen were just always a part of their lives.
And then, the last time I had a long phone chat with her, I asked her to help me understand the Residential School story more than I did at that time. She was patient and clear. We talked for quite a while and it helped me a lot. She said quite calmly that those had been the worst years of her life. It was so typical of her that she did that for me even though I thought afterwards that it must have been painful to talk about it --for which I was sorry.
Blessings on Doreen and my most sincere thanks for the gentle friendship and example she gave to me.
