Obituary of Irwin Raphael Fernandes

Fernandes, Irwin Raphael
(October 24, 1932 – January 23, 2024)

Passed away at Extendicare Timmins on January 23 rd , 2024 with family at his side at the age of 91. Beloved husband to the late Gloria Fernandes. Dear father to Glenn (Estelle) Fernandes of Timmins and Bev Fernandes from Prince Edward County. Grandfather of Eric and Joseph Fernandes. Survived by sister-in-law Pam Skinner as well as cousins Ernest and Juliet Gomes and Barry and Joan DeSilva. Irwin is predeceased by his brother- in-law Mac McIvor and Desmond Pepin and sisters-in-law Vivian Rochard and Rita McIvor. Irwin will be missed by many more family and friends. In his younger years, he had great pride in being the mail man in Bobcaygeon and enjoyed all the relationships he formed along the way. Irwin loved listening to Steelband music and enjoying a nice glass of Mount Gay Sugar Brandy with his love Gloria and
his family and friends. He also loved nature and specifically birds. He loved to laugh, dance and tell stories. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Vaithilingam, Dr. DiTullio and the Gillies household staff for all the great care they have provided Irwin over the past years.

A visitation will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOME – MONK CHAPEL, 6 Helen Street,Bobcaygeon on Tuesday January 30 th , 2024 from 3:00 PM till 7:00 PM. Service to follow at 7:30 PM.
