Obituary of Douglas Ross Fralick
Fralick – Douglas Ross, 94, of Bobcaygeon area, passed away on Sunday, January 14 at Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, Ontario after a short illness.
Doug was born on July 9, 1929, to Gertrude and Harold Fralick in Toronto, Ontario. After graduating from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute Doug pursued a career as a Certified Public Health Inspector, working for the Toronto Public Health Dept. for 30 years.
In 1949 Doug met Jacqueline Armstrong on a blind date. They married three years later and had four children, Steven, Ron, Trish, and John.
Doug, along with his dad and uncle, built a home on Northdale Rd. in York Mills where the family lived for 38 years. Doug and Jackie were very involved in the community and were founding members of Trinity Presbyterian Church, York Mills.
In 1989 Doug retired and he and Jackie moved to Bobcaygeon where they were active members at Knox Presbyterian Church. Doug loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at the cottage. He was a handyman and was always building or fixing things; he never sat still. We will miss his wicked sense of humor. Doug was a quiet man but larger than life.
Doug was predeceased by his youngest son, John and his sister, Helen. He is survived by his loving wife Jackie, son Steve (Wendy), son Ron, daughter Trish (Tom Cook), seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and two nieces.
A private family service has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
