Passed away at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on December 30th, 2023.
On March 4, 1942, CAROLE HELEN SHULVER was born in Toronto, daughter of the late ERIC SHULVER & HELEN MAY TAYLOR. Carole attended school in Thornhill and went on to work for Bell Canada in the Medical Dept. In 1972 she enrolled in the Scarborough Regional School of Nursing and then worked for a year at Scarborough Centenary Hospital. To become qualified in Outpost Nursing, Carole studied at Dalhousie University in Halifax. She was then employed by Health and Welfare Canada in Inuvik & Iqualit. She later was a Nurse Educator at Scarborough Campus, University of Toronto. After her mother's death in 1989, she moved to Lakefield with her father. She worked for a short time at Lakefield College School before fully retiring.
Carole was a very outgoing, people person who loved to cook and bake for her friends. Over the years she had enjoyed several outdoor activities including swimming, cycling and golfing, as well as working in her flower gardens. She was an avid reader and enjoyed classical and folk music especially the Irish Rovers As a young woman Carol and a friend had an adventurous six-month tour of Europe. Together with her father she had travelled quite extensively enjoying several cruises. After retirement Carole volunteered at Community Care and read for the blind at Ontario Audio Library Services. Wherever she lived Carole was active in the life of her Church as a Sunday School teacher. Friends will remember her dedication to her father.
A funeral service will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield on Friday January 12th, 2024 at 11:00 AM. With visitation to commence half an hour prior.
