Obituary of Thomas George Schreiber
SCHREIBER, Thomas
Thomas George Schreiber passed away in the early morning hours of December 19 2023, at the age of 64. He was married to Wendy Peever in 1985 and together they had two daughters, Steph (Allan Dixon) of Edmonton and Leslie of Calgary. Tom was an aviation enthusiast all his life and was a pilot and flying instructor in Lindsay early in his career. He went on to become an air traffic controller, working 27 years at the Ottawa control tower before retiring to Bobcaygeon. Tom was an only child and was predeceased by his parents Adolf (Eddie) and Eleanor Schreiber, and his mother-in-law Charlotte Peever. Tom is survived by his wife and children, his father-in-law Doug Peever, and sisters in law Cheryl Peever (Richard Millen) and Tracey Peever, all of Ottawa. Tom was diagnosed with dementia at an early age. Through programs by Community Care and the Alzheimer’s society Tom was able to stay active and engaged in his home community for the majority of his diagnosis. For the last year of his life, he resided at Bendale Acres, where the staff at Bendale created an exceptional experience for him and we thank them for everything.
Arrangements have been entrusted to THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOME – MONK CHAPEL. Please consider making a donation in Tom’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Peterborough by calling 705-738-3222 or by visiting www.hendrenfuneralhome.com. In true Tom style we will procrastinate and have a celebration of life at a later date.
