Obituary of Donald Elder McRobb
Donald Elder McRobb passed away peacefully at his home in Lakefield, Ontario on Sunday July 30th, 2023. Don was born March 30th, 1936 in Toronto to Norman and Teresa McRobb (Elder). Growing up in Forest Hill he spent his early years serving as a dedicated Altar Boy at Holy Rosery Church. He graduated from St. Michael’s College School. Then began his career in sales at CHFI Radio (often asked to switch from a receiving only commission to salary, he declined). In 1962 he married Barbara Ruthe Mitchell settling in the Bridal Path, Don Mills and later moving to Guildwood Village, Scarborough. As a successful entrepreneur, Don carved out a niche in Ontario Healthcare creating Medical Replacement Centre (MRC) providing on-call services for the GTA and placing Physicians on locums internationally. As an accomplished CEO, Don owned and operated MRC for over 30 years. He had a passion for investing and was never afraid to take a risk. He loved planning surprises, ski trips and Disney adventures. He was a keen gardener and delighted in tending to his backyard pool. He spent endless hours packing up the Thunderbird for family summers at Elgin House and Delewana Inn in the Muskoka’s. He was the kind of Dad who took a ladder to the Santa Clause parade, so his kids had “the best view”. Don was never without out a Cadillac and was an avid sportsman. He was a hockey coach, a fervent baseball fan and player, reluctantly hanging up his glove at 82 yrs of age. He spent his retirement years as a “snowbird” between Treasure Island, Florida and Lakefield. Don was a very proud father of David McRobb, Victoria B.C., Blair McRobb, Pickering (Soyna) and Patricia McRobb, Toronto/Abu Dhabi. Grandfather to Dustin, Jenna, Paige, Jackson and Julia McRobb. Don was deeply loved and will forever be missed. He is eternally in our hearts. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Don to the P.R.H.C. Foundation and may be made by contacting THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
