I first heard about Red Wasson through my softball coach Bob Crowe. Bob had so much respect for the Wasson brothers, he talked about them all the time and when I got my opportunity to meet them, I completely agree with Bob's opinion. It was Red who I came to know very well through the years I spent with him at the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame. It was a privilege and an honour to sit around the coffee table and listen to his stories or his opinion on various matters. He had a unique way with words, a great sense of humour and a great respect for people and history. He had a sharp mind for all things sports and a passion for military history. He constantly inspired us with his stories and was such a source of knowledge on many topics. Poor health robbed him and us of more time at the Hall. While his body was letting him down, his mind never did. To a person at the Hall of Fame, we regarded Red Wasson as a good, solid, respectful and wise leader. We enjoyed every minute we spent with him. His legacy will live on at the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame. Condolences to Marie and the Wasson Family.
