Obituary of Marilyn Frances Oliver
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marilyn Frances Oliver at The Bridge Hospice, Warkworth, Ontario after a very brief stay at the age of 84. Daughter of the late Everett and Frances Hess of Hastings/Peterborough. Marilyn was the high school sweetheart and beloved wife of the late Lloyd Oliver and loving mother of Lori (Chris Livings) and Stephen (Cathy Byrne). Adoring and proud grandmother of Jordan, Nicole, Tyler (Olivia), and Shelby (Adam), and great-grandmother of Skyla, Abby, Leo, and baby-to-be. Sister of Elaine Freeman and predeceased by her brother, Jim Hess.
Marilyn was born and raised in Hastings, Ontario and moved to Norwood at the age of 20 when she married Lloyd, and where she remained a resident for the remainder of her life. Following high school graduation, Marilyn went to business college in Peterborough and worked at Peterborough Civic Hospital in Medical Records. Her career really began when she landed a job at Norwood District High School where she was the head secretary and remained for 43 years. In her earlier years, before arthritis struck, taking away many things she loved to do, her favourite pastimes included, sewing, knitting, crafts, dancing, socializing with friends (a few ryes & cokes, Chinese food & card games might have been involved), shopping, and trips to Las Vegas. In recent years, she played WonderWord daily and loved sitting with her family enjoying much conversation, laughter, and many meals together around the table.
