John will be forever loved and missed deeply by his wife Diane (Devitt), his co-pilot in life for 57 years. Loved by his daughter Bonnie Patterson predeceased (Jimmy) and son Kelly Nicholls (Jennifer). Proud Pa/Popa of Shannon, Adam, Nick, Jillian & Gavin whom he had his own special and wonderful relationship with. Great Grandpa to Payton, Kieran, Kallie & Addison.
Predeceased by his proud parents Alexander & Edna Nicholls and in-laws Harry & Helen Devitt. Survived by his three loving sisters Dorothy (Earl) McFeeters, Barbara (Cecil) Young, Cathy (Johnny) James. Predeceased by his brothers George (Marjorie) Nicholls & David (Susan) Nicholls. Survived by brother in law Doug (Karen) Devitt and sister in law Susan Nicholls, and predeceased by Murray (Helen) Devitt. John was a skilled mechanic by profession and retired in 2004 to do the things he loved most. A very accomplished hockey player, inducted into the Lindsay District Sports Hall of Fame. John loved fishing and enjoyed spending days on the lake or week long trips away with his great friends. A big treasure was the hunting camp and the many wonderful memories created there with family and lifelong friends during the annual hunt or Thanksgiving feasts. John and Diane enjoyed their daily drives to photograph wildlife to be shared with his friends on social media.
John loved family, friends, cherished neighbours, Montreal Canadiens, Molson Canadian, and Thursday night safety meetings. He was incredible with dates and local history of his beloved town, people’s birthdays and any other fact you may wish to know. He will leave a large void now that he is gone and will be missed by many.
