It was with great sadness when Jen notified me of Missy's passing. Missy was a wonderful person, always positive in spite of her disability. I had no idea that she was still doing talks against impaired driving and the terrible impact it can have on families. To this day that terrible incident haunts me more than anything else in 39 years of policing. On behalf of the McGuinness family please accept our sincere condolences.

My sincere condolences to the family. I first met Missy many years back when she was first injured. We shared a hospital room and I was asked by the nursing staff if I could chat with Missy about life in a wheelchair. As everyone who crossed her path, we hit it off right away. We have drifted in and out of each other's lives over the many years I have known her. No matter how much time passed since you last saw her, it was like you saw each other yesterday. I will always remember her beautiful eyes and kind soul. She will truly be missed.

Missy and I met through a friend we had in common, Debby Van Huizen. Back-in-the-day, we all used to meet at O’Tooles on Friday nights where we shared munchies, stories and laughs. One night she arrived with a gift of a beautiful Christmas ornament that hangs on our tree these 20+years later. Just another of her trademark random acts of kindness! No matter how long it had been since seeing her, every time I did it was like it was like no time had passed at all. She just made everything genuinely positive. A real angel. Our deepest condolences to her dear friends and family, who I know meant so much to her.

RIP Melissa. You suffered a calamity early in your life but turned into a positive as an advocate for impaired driving. You tried wheelchair athletics,, one of the last such athletes supported in part by the Sports Feaver Charity Fund for disabled athletes before it was closed down. We can continue your legacy by supporting such programs.

Dear Shelly and Jen, our thoughts, prayers and love are with you and your families at this time of great loss in your lives. Missy was a warm, loving, caring, kind and generous person whose spirit was able to uplift all of those that she came into contact with. What a great loss for those loved ones left behind here on earth but what a wonderful blessing for those loved ones that awaited her arrival in heaven. Having also lost our sister Cindy, whom we loved dearly, we understand and feel your loss deeply. Missy is now free of all the physical limitations she had to live with on earth and is now able to soar with the angels. Until we meet again, Rest in Peace our dear cousin Missy. With all our love your cousins Carrie and Cherle (Anthony and Shannon Conner)

My condolences. Missy had the biggest heart. I was first introduced through my aunt Debbie decades ago and I always looked up to her growing up. Was honoured to have her as a friend who supported me through many tough times as an adult and we shared many great laughs and adventures together. You couldn’t help but smile when you saw Missy. Her kindness, generosity and love will be missed by many.

My dear sweet cousins, Michele, Jen and family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet beautiful sister, Missy. My heart is broken for each of you at this very difficult time. I know the pain of losing a sister is like no other. Especially a sister as beautiful, kind and loving as Missy. We are sending you lots of love. Please know that Missy would want you to carry on your lives with a smile on your face in her honour. She was like no other. The light that beamed out of her was heavenly! I will always cherish our conversations, family memories and prayer time. Missy is whole again and dancing up a storm with our moms is in heaven. May the Lord bring some peace to your hearts and homes during this difficult time. Her legacy will always live on in your hearts. She always be watching over you as your guardian angel. As our moms would always say it’s never goodbye, just so long until we meet again. In Missy’s honour, I will perform an act of kindness to a random stranger for the rest of my life. I love you guys so much and am with you in heart and soul. ❤️ May the Lord bless you and yours always.
Love you xoxo

I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Missy’s passing. This is a true heartbreaking loss for any of us who were lucky enough to have her in our lives. Missy was the most kind person I’ve ever met. I first met Missy through my aunt Debbie many many years ago and we have always stayed in touch. We have shared many laughs, tears and memories. She was a true friend who always knew how to make you feel special and always had the best advice. I will truly miss her beautiful face and beautiful heart.

From one of our many lunch "meetings" which could last anywhere from 30 min to several hours, and even turn into a supper meeting!!! Gyros were a favourite, and unlimited refills were almost a requirement. You will be greatly missed my friend. Mom and I still laugh about the Big K toilet incident, our walk on the beach and what words come out of me after a morphine shot ! I will miss your spontaneity and gorgeous smile!

My own words seem to be failing me at this moment. So many wonderful memories after nearly 40 years of friendship. Missy, my only condolence at this time is knowing you are free from suffering. I will let Missy's own words express the kind and caring person that she was. You will always hold a special place in my heart. Hugs.

The world is less bright without Missy . She was such a loving and positive person. I always enjoyed our conversations through messenger. She had this way about her that made you feel that everything was going to be okay. You just had to have faith and believe. I am soo very sorry for your loss. She will be missed greatly by everyone who knew her. I am honoured to have called her my friend.
