Obituary of Laverne Junkin

Passed away peacefully at Victoria Manor, Lindsay on August 31, 2021 at the age of 65. Laverne loved to watch his favorite hockey team, the Boston Bruins, play and he was able to attend one of their games in Toronto. He loved all kinds of music and was a great fan of Terri Clark; he had been fortunate enough to have met her several times. Laverne loved to lend a helping hand whenever he could; he helped staff at Victoria Manor doing various little jobs. Laverne attended Day Supports through Community Living for approximately 30-35 years and worked at “Jobs R Us” until his retirement 5 years ago. He enjoyed Special Olympics bowling on Friday nights and spaghetti and “BIG MAC’s” were his foods of choice.

Laverne will be forever loved and missed by his siblings, Ina Mae Lyle (the late Gord), Cordell Junkin, Noreen Moore (Murray), and Valerie Kent (Grant). He will be remembered by his brother-in-law, John Glenn, his sister-in-law, Lorraine Richards, the staff at Victoria Manor, and special friends Kelly, Debbie, Barb, and Buttercup. Predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Idena Junkin, his brother, Orlin, his sisters, Glenda Glenn and Berteena Palmer, and his brother-in-law, John Palmer.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES – MONK CHAPEL, Bobcaygeon, Ontario. A celebration of Laverne’s life will be held at 585 Country Lane, Cameron, Ontario on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM with words of remembrance at 2:00 PM. Refreshments to follow. A private graveside service and interment to follow at Verulam Cemetery Bobcaygeon. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Residents Council at Victoria Manor Lindsay, or Community Living Trent Highlands, Lindsay.
