Heartfelt condolences to Sandra and family. Murray was such an inspiration to me and our family for many years. He taught me many lessons through his sermons that will always guide me through life. He loved the Lord and showed it everyday through his actions. Looking forward to our reunion in heaven! What a day that will be!

Dear Sandra, I'm so sorry for the loss of dear Murray. I have such wonderful memories of you both from your time at Emmanuel. My Mom (Viola) loved you both too. She often spoke fondly of Murray and how kind he was to her. I remember one time when some of us volunteered to clean the church and as I was scrubbing a wall and Mom was scrubbing a pew, all of a sudden the organ rang out with a most beautiful song. We didn't know Murray had come over to the church and as we looked up, somewhat startled, he had a huge smile on his face and we laughed together at his stealth entry into the church. He then stayed and played many more songs while we sang and scrubbed. This is just one of many stories I could tell about Murray and his wonderful sense of humour and deep deep love for the Lord Jesus and the people in his parish. He was such a gift to us at Emmanuel. I'll miss his Christmas cards and birthday greetings. Murray and I shared the same birthday and joyfully wished each other a happy day! He will be dearly missed by anyone who ever had the privilege of knowing him. God bless and comfort you and your precious family at this sad time. Much love, Joanna Guy

My condolences to the family. I have such fond memories of Mr.McColl form the 60's when he was my elementary teacher in our one room school house in Ennismore. How he handled 8 grades I will never know! He instilled a love for music. He encouraged me to sing in the Kiwanis music festival and our Christmas concerts. Rest in peace Mr. McColl.

My first memory of this wonderful person was at Bible School in Apsley when we were both a lot younger. Murray has always been such a kind, thoughtful, gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humor. He has touched the lives of so many and was loved by all who knew him. I loved dropping in for a visit with my cousin Sandra and Murray as they always made me feel so welcome. My favorite nickname for Murray was "the Rev"..... Of course I had to stay for a wonderful meal prepared with love by Murray as Sandra and I are laughing and catching up on childhood memories. My heart is aching for my beautiful cousin Sandra and family during this difficult time. I am happy he isn't suffering and has gone to a better place; I am grieving my loss and I know I am one of several who will miss this wonderful man in our lives. Please know that my heart and thoughts are with all of you. We will get together soon. God bless you.

Condolences to the McColl family at this difficult time. A hard reality to deal with so suddenly. Murray was always the greatest guy..he always had a little joke to share...was always there to lend a shoulder to cry on or give a hug. He will be missed by all whose lives he has touched - and I know there are many. I am so thankful we had a chance for a visit with him and Sandra a month or so ago. That will be my final memory of seeing his smiling face and having a great chat. Rest in Peace...

Rev. McColl was a great spiritual guide for me. During my formation for the priesthood in 2006, he acted as my spiritual advisor and then just recently we had begun meeting again. I can't remember meeting with someone who was such a perfect combination of careful, non-judgemental listening with gentle and powerful insight. Prayer was always a powerful experience with Rev. McColl. At the end of our sessions, we would just relax into prayer and allow the Holy Spirit to fill us and speak to God honestly and clearly. He had a way about him that just allowed prayer to happen, patiently waiting for God, and then God coming. He taught me first of all that God has a personal, deeply caring, almost obsessive love for each human being, and he encouraged me to reflect on that. He would say I should imagine a parent with a wallet full of pictures, showing the photos to everyone. That's how God thinks of us. God is delighted with us, proud of us, and is always thinking about us. He encouraged me to be a spiritual person, paying attention to dreams and feelings, trusting that God is with us in a very real, ever-present way. Meeting with him always helped me see more clearly into my own spiritual journey and I left feeling more faithful and encouraged. My prayers and condolences are with Sandra and his family.
