Dearest Terry, Sarah, Krista, Nathan and Joseph,
It is with a heavy heart that I read of Dave's passing. A flood of sentimental memories filled my head.,,Kathleen Street, the children, the gold plaid couch and more importantly the love that you shared as a couple and a family. Watching the memorial video, allowed me to see that Dave remained the amazing husband, Dad and Professional throughout the years.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Terry - My sincere condolences to you, Sarah, Krista, Nathan and Joseph on your loss. I will remember Dave as a good friend and valued associate over our years at MNR, both in the Sault in the 80's and again in Peterborough in our later careers. Many fond memories of shared experiences and great discussions, on and off the job. Dave worked hard but always with a great sense of humour and positive outlook. He will clearly be missed by many of us who knew and respected him.

Terry, Sarah, Krista, Nathan and Joseph. Rena and I were saddened to hear of Dave’s passing, and have spent the last few days reminiscing about when we were all in Guelph and having so much fun. I was a student in ‘the other’ fish lab and, looking back, perhaps Dave and others in the McCrimmon lab were engaged in a form of ichthyological conversion therapy. Dave always took great pleasure from introducing me, with a big chuckle, as a guy who was working on minnows and, in the end, I did gravitate toward what he laughingly referred to as ‘working on real fish’. Rena and I have been smiling as we remember the Saturday night dances and Halloween parties at the Grad Lounge, getting together on other Saturday nights to watch Saturday Night Live, and going to Maple Leaf Gardens to see Steve Martin who, from our seats, could have been anyone in a white suit. I got my first job after grad school based on Dave’s recommendation that I replace him working on a contract with MNR in Cambridge, when he got a permanent job. I remember clearly our discussions during the transition, which changed the way I looked at fish habitat forever (and much for the better). Dave was always generous with his thoughts and his time and I always thought that he was the most optimistic of our peers. How else could we have ended up changing the clutch in your Peugeot in your landlord’s garage without adequate tools or knowledge?
Our condolences to all of you and to your extended family.

Our deepest condolences on Dave's passing. We both have fond memories of our times spent with Dave though university and work. I (Deb) enjoyed working closely with Dave for many years in Fish and Wildlife at OMNR. His welcoming and calm manner was always a comfort during challenging times. I (Brian) first met Dave at U of G when he was my TA in an Ichthyology Lab. We later were reacquainted at OMNR through our contributions to the ministry's Biodiversity Strategy. I remember Dave as being inclusive and patient in dealings with others.

Yes, I would like to share an anecdote, dating back to when I knew Dave as "one of those kids in the assessment units" as we were all labelled by Jack Christie. I can remember how we worked earnestly in "Visicalc" to model the Flack Lake trout in a life table, with Rick Deriso looking over our shoulders. Dave was a great colleague and we treasure our shared memories.

It was with deep sadness that I heard of Dave’s passing. From his time at the University of Guelph to his retirement from OMNR, we kept in touch. I have very fond memories of those associations. I particularly remember his major effort at the AFS meeting in Ottawa in 2008, which he convened and at which my family and I met you.

Terry and family, It was indeed sad news to hear of Dave's passing. Although we had the same employer (OMNR), regrettably our career paths rarely crossed and my memories of Dave date back decades during our post-grad years at U of G. Dave was the married-with-children-and a dog grad student in the late Dr. MacCrimmon group. I was always impressed by Dave's friendly and relaxed demeanor. He had a warm and calming authority that I'm sure served him well in work and life.
Farewell old friend.

Hello Terry, Sarah, Krista, Nathan and Joseph.
That is very sad news. My condolences to you. I'm rather shocked that Dave could be gone.......
I remember him well, and over a rather long time period when I stop to think about it.
He was a warm friendly man, and he always seem to find the middle way.
I particularly relish my memories of the Maraldo Family Christmas Gatherings, and then there were the moose sausage making afternoons.
I live in coastal BC now, and have a guest space for you, should you be out this way. batsareus@yahoo.com It would be a great pleasure.
May his memory be a blessing,
Stephen Belfry

Hi Terry and Family:
It is with much sadness that I learned today about Dave's passing. I have so many fond memories of our times together back in the "Good Old (young?!) days' in Guelph, because they really were good! Dave was one of the most gentle and kind souls I have ever met, and we shared a kindred passion for all things fish and water. I'd forgotten about the baseball team mentioned by Al Sippel, and now remember the laughs we all had playing together. Sandra and I still chuckle out loud recalling our dinner date at your house where we enjoyed the 'extra tenderized' grilled pork chops out of the oven ! (Terri,I hope you remember what I'm talking about ?!). Too much fun we all had ! Dave modeled the way for many of us with his kind spirit and empathetic heart. I will always remember him as a good man. My sincere condolences to all of you.
Warm regards,
Rich and Sandra Moccia

Hi Terry and family:
I have fond memories of Dave both while we were grad students at Guelph and while working together at MNR. At Guelph, we had a baseball team in the intramural league that Rich Moccia had assembled. We were pretty poor but we had fun and drank some post-game beer. At work, Dave was always friendly and cheerful and had lots of good ideas.
Unfortunately, we cannot attend the memorial service this Sunday. Sadly, we'll be in Guelph attending another memorial service for another grad student (and good friend) of the same era as Dave and I.
Are thoughts will be with you.

Dave and Terry always had their home open to any number of teenagers throughout the years. I spent many a dinner at the Maraldo’s home and having fun with Krista and Sarah. Dave put up with our singing, dancing, goofing around and also drove us to rehearsals through rain or shine. I’m so sorry for your loss Krista, and much love to Nathan and Joe and Sarah and especially your mama. xo
