Obituary of Robert John Mitchell
ROBERT JOHN MITCHELL Bob passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18th with his family present, in his 76th year after enduring cancer this past year with courage and dignity. Bob was the beloved husband and best friend of Barbara (McLean) for 48 years, loving and devoted father of David, (Holly) and proud and loving Grandad to his special Ryleigh. Predeceased by parents Mary and James Mitchell, Woodbridge, brother of William (Iduina) and Diane Hawksworth, Newmarket; Uncle to 4 nieces and 2 nephews, nephew of Aunt June and cousins. Bob retired after 38 years with the Royal Bank and with Barbara made lasting friends in Barbados and Trinidad in the Caribbean and in Ontario. He was a volunteer and President of the Board of Directors of Community Care, Haliburton, member of Rotary Clubs in Trinidad and Ajax, and earlier Scarborough Jaycees. He was the founding member of the Kinmount Model Railroad Club where he and Barbara had a cottage at nearby Crystal Lake for 31 years with many special friendships there. Family and friends will be received at the Monk Funeral Home, 6 Helen St., Bobcaygeon on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Trinity United Church, 42 William Street, Bobcaygeon on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in Church Hall. Donations in Bob’s memory may be considered to Ross Memorial Hospital Palliative Care, Lindsay; Trinity United Church, Bobcaygeon and Lakefield Animal Welfare Society (rescues Tyler and Brittany). He will be forever missed by his family.
