Obituary of David Bain
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Dave Bain in his 71st year. Loving husband of Gail for 48 years, beloved father of Tracy (Charlie Johnstone) and Jodi (Bill Pardy), devoted grandfather to Meredith, Conor, Avery, Tatum and Reid, greatly missed by his siblings Hugh (Tamara), Linda (Jay) and Karen (Steve). Uncle Dave will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Born on November 2, 1941, Dave grew up in the Beach attending Williamson Rd. School and Malvern Collegiate Institute. He then went on to the University of Toronto, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree and became a teacher. Dave taught with the Toronto District School Board for 36 years and was lucky enough to retire at the early age of 56. Upon retirement, he turned his passion for travel into a “new career” coordinating lawn bowling tours, which took him, and his wife Gail, across the globe. Together they have travelled to more than 25 different countries meeting a countless number of people and forging lasting relationships. It was on his trip to Utah to visit friends and watch his grandson play rugby that he lost his life in a car accident. He passed away doing something that he truly loved, travelling. He will be remembered for his intelligence, quick wit, infectious laugh and many life lessons he liked to share with his family. A memorial service will be held at a later date when his wife Gail has sufficiently recovered from her injuries.
