When we heard of Ernies passing we were instantly drawn to our first memory of him and his SMILE.
For the over 40 years we knew him and his contributions to our Trade we always found him amicable, funny and willing to show us a thing or two.
We know that Debi will miss her partner but we know that he is up there stoking the fires and keeping our hearts warm.
we will miss you

Ernie and I were in grades 7 & 8 at St. James School in Oakville. Years passed and I had heard, through a mutual friend, about his profession and whereabouts. I tracked him down and he travelled from Peterborough to Mono Mills in the mid 80's to install a Heritage wood burning stove in our renovated school house. He stayed the night and the following day we met up for lunch at the Riverside Tavern in Oakville, after visiting our respective families. That was the last time I would see Ernie.
Rest in peace, Brother.

Will miss Ernie very much, will miss his leprechaun's smile and quick wit. He was always a true friend and a most wonderful character, one of a kind. We all shared so much fun over the years. Wishing you the best on your next great adventure.
Condolences to Debbie and family
With much love and fondness, Randy

Ernie was a good friend and business associate of mine for over 40 years,
Ernie's Alternative Enterprises was a pioneer in a new sort of business when he started. He had stores in Young's Point at 2 different locations, a West Toronto store for a few years and in Peterborough on Water St for about 35 years.
He volunteered on various ULC committees to make wood heating more safe for us all. He was a big part of establishing the WETT certification for wood heating that is now part of the building codes in Canada, His work is appreciated.
He was a quick wit; a fun and funny guy. We will all miss him.

Ernie was a good guy. One of the first people we met when we moved to Peterborough, some 40 years ago, he'd just started his business and sold us our first wood stove, a Vermont Castings beauty. Ernie was always easy to chat with, and I enjoyed catching up with him over the years. My condolences to his family.

It is with sadness in our hearts that we hear of Ernie's passing.
We have known him for many many years as a good, honest and nice man.
Always there to help if needed
From one Chimney Sweep to another, we will mourn his passing and know that he is in the big Chimney in the sky warming his feet by the fire, knowing that we are down here wishing him well.
