Obituary of John Garry Armstrong

ARMSTRONG: John Garry Passed away peacefully after a brief illness at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday January 28, 2017. Garry Armstrong of Buckhorn in his 75th year. Garry owned and operated Garry Armstrong Haulage for over 50 years and was a 35 year member of the Chemung Lake District Lions Club. He will be remembered by many for his years of haulage and farming in the area. Loved and missed by his wife of 54 years, Ileen (nee McKelvie), and by his children Sue Dennison (Wayne) of Bridgenorth, Keith (Colleen) of Buckhorn, Elaine Campbell (Shawn) of Ennismore and Paul of Buckhorn. Papa is remembered by grandchildren Madeline (Kevin), Jeremy, Travis (Sara), Morgan, Mason, Cole, Cooper, Riley and Lauren and great grandchildren Wisdom, Alaura, Darian and Charlotte. Survived by his sister Shirley Shield (the late Joe), brother-in-law John McKelvie, sisters-in-law Fern McKelvie and Janet Torrance (Greg) and beloved cousin (like a sister) Marilyn Elia (John). Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may call at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen St., Lakefield on Friday February 3, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at Bridgenorth United Church on Saturday February 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Rev. Dr. Anne Gowans-Blinn officiating. Private family interment.
