Joyce and Leslie and Family,
I was sorry to hear of Pete's passing. Although it's been many, many years since I have seen him, I still have a very clear picture of him in my mind. Very white hair, very dark tan - all year long - and that was before tanning salons! As a teenager that always amazed me. Of course he was always outside, doing something - the total opposite of teenage behaviour :)
A very strong, quiet man. The foundation of his family. That's how I remember him.
Thank you Sean for the enlightening story of his war history. I am very sorry for your family's loss.

Our thoughts are with my Papa, Peter Grassam a hardy, stout WW2 Veteran whom had a long hard fight with many illnesses over the past year. He served in the RAF throughout WW2, flying with 230 Sqn operating the massive flying boat, the Sunderland, tasked with locating and destroying enemy submarines. He had been shot down and spent a few days in a raft in the south china sea awaiting rescue and he remained serving with the RAF after the war for a few years where he transported prisoners charged with war crimes to their trials and reunited commonwealth POWs with their families.
His strong persevering personality coupled with his jolly Christmas time like spirit inspired the family.
Papa you will be missed by your loving family and we will continue to share your stories at family dinners.
Sean xoxo

Dear Joyce and Family,
Please know that all Peter's friends and Comrades here at the Legion have all of you in our thoughts and prayers. Peter was a real gentleman to say the least and I'm sure that will be what comes to mind when remembering this great guy. We are all saddened at the loss of another of our senior Veterans and hope and pray the God will strengthen and sustain you in the coming days.
R. Dave Boak, President - R.C.L. Bobcaygeon.

It is with a heavy heart to see my father in law pass away. I know he has gone to a much better place. I am so greatfull what this man my hero achieved in his long life. He was a WW2 Veteran he was a pilot with 230 Squadron Royal Air Force flying the Sunderland aircraft and without his services to our country our loving family just would not be here today. Pete I miss you and you will always be in my heart. I thank you for all the help and guidance you gave to me it means so much. I know Leslie, Leah, Sean and Lindsey miss you also. We have shed many tears but we wish you peace and love
Thank you for being a part of our lives . We all love you

Peter was an exceptional man. A Proud RAF Sunderland fighter pilot during WW2, to his career as a truck driver for Ultramar, to retiring to Bobcaygeon and continuing on as a school bus driver. His life's experiences have been extraordinary. We will never forget his funny stories he would tell at the Christmas table! He was the type of man to never be idle but this last year has been rough on him we are glad he is now finally at rest. His grandchildren Leah, Sean & Lindsey will miss him dearly. My husband John & I are grateful to have had him in our lives as long as we did. You will be forever on mind and in my heart. I will miss you xxx
Luv Leslie
