Sorry this is extremely late, was going down memory lane and came across this,
I remember Mr. Frank Leahy 50 years ago now, My father was a guitarist in Frank Leahys band and was very honored to be in his band. Frank was very forgiving to my father many many times and gave him lots of chances, I am hoping due to my fathers talent ,but addiction always won. Thank you for trying Mr. Leahy, I always remember that even though I was only 7 or 8 at the time he always gave him another chance
Thank you for trying

my husband Pat & I met Frank & Julie at Harry & Mary Searson's in
Eganville many years ago. I think that Angus was 12 years old. There were several more siblings & we were very impressed with such a lovely family. We saw their show in Victoria, B.C. & got their disc & autographs. Now, our son Patrick is teaching at Bishop Smith's with two of the sons- law.
Please accept my sincere condolences at his passing but remember we have to die in order to get to Heaven, so be happy you now have a very potent advocate there.
Blessings on you all. Mabel

Dear Julie and all of Frank's children,
Be assured of our prayers that Frank will be brought quickly into the joy of seeing the Holy Trinity and our Lady face to face and that you will know the Lord's consolation in your sadness.
Thanking our Lord for Frank's life (though I did not have the honour of knowing him personally) and for the hope we have because of the loving passion, death and resurrection of Christ.
I will offer Mass for the repose of Frank's soul.
(After being away for a few weeks from my community of Madonna House I just heard the news of Frank's death, so I'm sorry I'm getting this to you late.)
in Our Lady of Combermere,
Fr. Brian Christie

Dear Julie and Members of the Leahy Family:
I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Leahy's passing. I have heard about The Leahys since way back in the 70's when I was taking step dancing from Angus MacDonnell and Margaret Dunn. Angus introduced us to his sister Julie's musical family. He was so proud of you all. I watched you perform throughout the years at many concerts when my sister Garry and I would be step dancing. What a legacy he leaves behind!
I also wanted to mention that I have worked with Joanne MacLean for many years. She is a dear friend. May all the good memories help you get through this tough time. May God be good to him. Please accept my sincere sympathy.
Sincerely,
Ellen MacPhersonMacIntyre

Our deepest condolences to all of the Leahy family. I always felt proud that they lived and continued to stay part of this community, even when their success plummeted, and they started to travel the world. They made the world know that Lakefield was still their home. My God, what a wonderful, loving, close, dedicated, caring, and religious family. With all their fame and success, they never changed, worked at the market all summer, always there with a smile, and time to talk, performed and gave so, so much back to their community, and always still identified Lakefield and area as their home. I don't t think I have ever met a family in my lifetime, that I can say I respect and love as much as the Leahy Family. Rest in peace Frank, and always know the love, ,,success and respect you left your family, which will carry on for many generations to come.

Leahy Family,
Our sincere sympathy on Frank's passing. We will never forget Frank and all of you who were so welcoming to us when we were visiting our cousins, the Quigleys. Colum drove us down to your home (we don't even think he called ahead!) and your hospitality was unbelievable! Frank had whoever was there put on a show for us that we still talk about. Piano, fiddles, singing, step dancing - we were bowled over - so admiring of the fabulous talent you all have! Colum was so proud to call you friends and he was excited for us to experience your family. Many of our visits to Norwood included your beautiful family - Doreen's funeral, Colum's 80th b'day to name a few. Frank is up there now with Colum watching over all of you - and he is very proud! May he rest in peace!

Dear Julie,
Our heartfelt condolences to you and your family on the passing of Frank. We remember him fondly from when your family performed at the Port Perry fair many years ago. Also we regularly stopped at the vegetable stand in Lakefield on our trips back and forth to Toronto .The cars automatically would turn in there and we'd always have a nice chat when Frank would arrive with a wagon load of corn; still the best in the land. My dad and his neighbours called it " the dancing corn!" We will never forget when we attended the ceilidh at Broad Cove and heard you and your sister singing in Gaelic; what an amazing day! My mom Marjorie, who passed away just over a year ago, loved it. We remember Frank as such a gentleman, so friendly, so true to his farm roots, always with a joke, so kind .
Love and prayers,

To the Leahy Family: So sad to hear of Frank's passing. I remember so well the night Colum and Sandra took me to your home and I met everyone---so many children, playing music and dancing and oh so happy to perform for a friend of the Quigley's from Nova Scotia. Your family was so very welcoming. Then when you came to perform in Truro NS in the early 80's, Ron and I met you after your concert and we still have photos of you all. Every time I would hear about the Leahy family performing---I would think of the evening I spent at the farm with you all. Frank was a wonderful man and I can't even begin to imagine what his loss will mean to each and every one of you. His tribute is so beautiful and resonates much about a man so well respected, admired and loved. My deepest sympathies to you all. Ginny

To: The Leahy Family,
May I offer my deepest sympathy for the loss of Frank, who was a wonderful man, who helped his neighbour like me, who really needed assistance and he and your family was always there. His music and that of Julie's, really was special, and as a result of their songs, Frank and Julie;s children inherited a great part of their parents talents. Your home, was filled full of love, peace and down right fiddling, piano playing, singing and stepdancing. It was a wonderful place to visit, and I just loved entering its doors. Thank you for your friendship. Frank was a hard working farmer, who loved the land, and as I would drive by, you would see Frank out on the fields. He was a special man to me, and I will never forget him.. Thank you Frank, God Bless you, my prayers are with you and for your great family.
Sincerely, Brenda Holmes
