Skip was the cornerstone of many of the principles that I have founded my adult life on, and I am eternally grateful for his dedication to helping myself, and thousands of other young men on their path to adulthood.
Always a patient teacher, skilled in the paths of nature and in community service; Al helped sculpt us, and through these teachings, his legacy will live on in us.
Thank you Skip for everything you did for me, and know your efforts were appreciated by us all.

I send my condolences to Al's family. He was a dear friend and fellow artist. The Kawartha Arts Festival brought us together in my home for the monthly art festival meetings. We were both on the Board of.Directors for many years. I framed a lot of his amazing pieces of art for him. I have missed him dearly in the past few years. Even my daughters thought a lot of him. My Grandson now has one of his pictures of a train hanging in his bedroom for us to remember him by.

Al was such a fine man. His deep faith was evident in all of his actions; his dedication to, and loving care of his dear wife, Jackie, whom he would faithfully bring to the Healing Ministry at Trinity church each Wednesday afternoon, his life-long commitment to the Boy Scout movement, his ready smile and warm interest in all he knew. We will miss Al at Trinity very much. We send our condolences to the family and to Al's special friend, Carol Hughes.

Al lived down the hall from my parents at RSKL. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Al, he always had a smile and a treat to share. There are people in this world who brighten the days of those they meet along the way, Al was one of those people and a true gentleman. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to know Al. He is truly missed. May your memories and all that Al meant to you bring you comfort.

Please accept our deepest sympathies. We enjoyed Al's visits to the store. He had many a long conversation with Fred about the days at A&P, their common interest. Al will be fondly remembered by many of our staff as the Candy Man. He would stop and chat always leaving them with a candy treat. He was very proud of his years with the Boy scouts, arranging apple day, selling popcorn, getting ready for the Huck Finn Race and planning the many camping adventures. A true gentleman who always gave of himself. Rest in peace Al. You have made your mark and will be fondly remembered. Fred, Heather, Jon & Ken Strang

It was such a pleasure to talk to Al when he came into the church office - he was like a `Ray of Sunshine`` ... always a smile and kind word ... plus a piece of chocolate or candy which he would hand out! He will be greatly missed. Sending our condolences to your family and Carol Hughes.

"Skip" was truly a gentleman and a genuine friend of all, especially his Scouts and Rovers. Lately I never saw him without seeing him hand out candies to everyone. He relished seeing the smiles on the faces of those that received them.
His ethics and morals and example of how to live a good life will continue to be a template for many.
God bless the family and Carol. May your memories help with the healing.
