Obituary of James William Sweeney

SWEENEY: James William "Jim" (WWII Veteran) Passed away peacefully at Extendicare, Lakefield, with his wife Marion by his side on Sunday October 5, 2014. Jim Sweeney of Lakefield in his 89th year. Jim was an employee of Shell Canada and retired October 1984. Both Marion and Jim then moved to the lake to spend their wonderful retirement years sharing with family and friends. Jim's love at the lake was boating and fishing of which he couldn't get enough of, then, wintering in Naples, Florida. Jim will be missed dearly by his wife Marion after just celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. Also sadly missed by his children Lois Hutt, Jim Sweeney, Ellen McLean, Paula McRea (Errol), Lynne Darch (Don), Kimberley "Kim" Sweeney, Paula Rentner (Dan), Rita Sweeney (Adam) and John Sweeney. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his many grandchildren and his special great grandchildren. Loving uncle to several close nieces and nephews. Also remembered by his brother Joseph "Joe" (Charlene) and many dear friends. Predeceased by his children Bob, Sharon (Shea), Bill, Gerald (Gerry), Mike, brothers Jack "John", Paul, Mike and one sister. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation as expressions of sympathy.
