Obituary of Beatrice Gwendolyn Willis

WILLIS: B. Gwendolyn "Gwen" September 20, 1924 - June 28, 2014 On a warm summer day, God took our Mom away. It is with profound sadness but also a subtle sense of peace knowing she is reunited with her late husband George, that the family of Beatrice Gwendolyn Oakes Willis (nee Self) announce her passing. Mom loved her summer days. Being an artist and gardener, every season beckoned her. Having graduated from Jarvis Collegiate, she followed in her fathers footsteps and took to drawing and painting. Along came love, marriage and of course, four babies. After raising her children, she once again took up art. In the mid 80’s, Gwen met the second love of her life, George and she continued travelling, gardening, writing, renovating and loving the grandchildren that came along. Volunteering and fundraising for Hospice Kawartha Lakes, Canadian Cancer Society, Community Care and the local Senior’s Centre, she gave the gift of her beautiful smile, compassion and hard work. She lead a truly wonderful life and we thank her for giving us ours. Blaine, Cathy, Richard, Janet and Families. We treasure you Mom and miss you. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, MONK CHAPEL, 6 Helen St., Bobcaygeon.
