Obituary of Gordon Blake

BLAKE: Gordon John Passed away peacefully at the P.R.H.C. on Monday September 9, 2013. Gord Blake of Lakefield in his 82nd year. Gord was the owner/operator of Blake's IGA in Lakefield for over 40 years. He was a longtime trusted and caring businessman in Lakefield and was gracious with his time in assisting local businesses and organizations. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and community. Loved and missed by his wife Donna (nee Edwards). Dad is remembered by Jan Blake of Lakefield and Pop is remembered by Mike Conroy-Blake and his wife Nicole of Lakefield and Laura-Darcy Blake and her husband Alexandre Desrochers of Lakefield. Loving great Pop of Lilah and Ronin. Also remembered by his brother-in-law Murray "Sonie" Edwards and his nieces Katherine Joseph (William) and Suzanne Joseph (Michael), all of Florida. Predeceased by his son Stephen (1981). Friends and relatives may call at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL on Thursday September 12, 2013 from 6-8 PM and on Friday September 13, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at Lakefield United Church on Saturday September 14, 2013 at 1:00 PM, followed by interment at Lakefield Cemetery. Rev. Warren Vollmer officiating. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall of the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Lakefield United Church as expressions of sympathy.
