Obituary of Lois Anderson
ANDERSON, Lois I. On November 18, 1919 Lois Isabell Clysdale was born in Dummer Township, the daughter of Mabel Taylor and Stewart Clysdale. After completing her education she worked in the home for several years before becoming employed at Westclox in Peterborough. During WW II, Lois joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, W.D. where she served for three years. On September 7, 1946, Lois married Peter Anderson in Warsaw. Peter was a career soldier and his career took them to various bases in Canada prior to retirement in 1976, when they settled in Lakefield. Peter passed away on January 24, 2002. From that time to early 2010, Lois lived in their home on Rolliston Street and at Sherbrooke Heights in Peterborough. In March 2010, Lois took up residence in the Algoma Manor in Thessalon, Ontario. Lois was very family oriented and especially enjoyed the times spent with her granddaughters. In her quiet times she enjoyed reading as well as quilting, and bowling or a game of bridge were favourite pastimes. Together with Peter she had travelled extensively in Europe, especially throughout Scotland and across Canada. Wherever they lived Lois had been involved in the life of their Church. On Saturday June 23, 2012 Lois passed away at Algoma Manor in Thessalon, Ontario. Lois is survived by her children Sharon and her husband Blair MacKinnon and David and his wife Clorise and granddaughters Jane and Sarah Anderson. She is also missed by sisters Doris Payne (Lloyd), Edna Clysdale; and sisters-in-law Ona and Marilyn Clysdale. Lois was predeceased by her parents Mabel and Stewart Clysdale; husband Peter; brothers Ivan, Don and Keith Clysdale; sister June Clysdale and sister-in-law Florence Clysdale. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Warsaw United Church on Friday June 29, 2012 at 1:30 PM. Interment will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Warsaw. A reception will follow in the Warsaw Town Hall. As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Algoma Manor Charitable Foundation or the Alzheimer Society.
