I was very sorry to hear of Mr. Ron Darling's passing. He was my Grade 8 teacher, and the Principal of Warsaw District Public School while I was a student there in the 60's(!!). I remember him as a dedicated and caring person, who took an interest in every student in his class and in the entire school. He was fair, but firm! I was very touched that Mr. Darling attended the funerals of my older brother Allen, and my father Harold Hendren. He knew every member of my family and he knew me, who he had not seen or heard of in many years and he spoke to all of us in a very personal way. It touched my heart that even years later, he remembered all of us. He was a truly admirable person. He will be missed greatly in the community and by all who knew him. Sincerely, Cathy Emms ( Hendren)

My thoughts are with you Merilyn, and your family whom Ron treasured. I was fortunate to have Ron as my principal at Norwood in the early 90's. When I think of those times a whole group of C words come to mind: child-centered,caring,comedy,constructive criticism, creative, consistent, charitable, community minded-what more could a staff member ask for? He was a gentle man and a gentleman.
