I was named after Stu. I never met him. My mother n father divorced what I was 3 years old. I didn’t know if my mother or father were close to Stu. I was told all growing up I was named after him so I suspect one of them did. I see he passed in 2009. As I approach my older age I hope I lived up to his name. It’s been 50 plus years since I was moved from Lakefield as a child. Never forgot the story after how I was named and sorry I never got to meet the other Stu. I hope I carry on your proud name !! Stu Pearson

To Barb and all of Stu's family, I was saddened to hear of Stu's passing. I will never forget taking a ride in his plane, or how he always gave me a big hug and kiss on the cheek whenever I saw him! He was a wonderful man who always made me, and so many people, feel like part of his family.

I don't think I need tell you how much we thought of our friend Stu. He taught me all I know about woodworking and added greatly to the happiness of my retirement. Even though he must have thought many times that I was slowing down his own work, Stu never showed it and was always patient. Although it's been some time since we saw each other, I will always remember and miss him. He was always there if anyone needed him. Stu was lucky to have such a good life with a great wife and family. He left a lot of fine memories behind him. Goodbye my friend.

Dear Mrs. Peel: I have just learned this morning of Mr. Peels passing. For a time I lived just south of Lakefield and attended Lakefield High School. Mary Soder was one of my classmates. My father was one of the owners of Peterborough Tool and Machine. Of the fond memories which I harbour of Stu I wish to share the following: I remember Stu driving around Lakefield in his 1943 Jeep and being most envious of his ownership of that vehicle. During the winter of 1965-1966, I built a plywood Runabout boat. Stu assisted me with advice during the course of construction. In particular when I was encountering difficulty in fabricating the boats stem, Stu made one for me from two pieces of oak glued and bolted together. He bevelled the edges to receive the plywood sides and bottom thus saving me a lot of hand work. His account to me was nominal. I can remember, as though it was yesterday, Stu advising me how to select wood for boatbuilding. Stus kindness and generosity of spirit are etched in my memory. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. Fred Gariepy

Dear Barb and Family, I was so sorry to hear of your sad loss. I have many fond memories of working for Stu at Peel Marine and was very happy to spend a few minutes with him at the canoe museum for Walter's birthday celebration. I was lucky a few years ago to see some of his wonderful furniture and as a woodworker myself I have the greatest admiration for his work. Our thoughts are with you and your family in your sadness. Best regards, Brian & Pauline.

Karen and I were very saddened to hear of Uncle Stus passing. We send our condolences and love to Auntie Barb and the whole family. While we are unable to be in attendance personally, we are with you in spirit. On a personal note, my own memories are of a talented, skilled craftsman who cared deeply for his family and worked hard to make a good life for all. My fondest memories are of being promoted to Chief Sawdust sweeper at the old shop, the smell of freshly cut wood mixed with aromas of paints and lacquers and the hiss of the kettle through the stovepipe steaming oak ribs for bending while Uncle Stu regaled with tales of his adventures hunting and fishing. He will be missed but not forgotten. Love Brian and Karen
