Dear Lucy, Billy and Harry and your families, I am writing you from Paris where I now live with my husband and 3 sons. My brother, Taras, sent me the sad news of your Mom's passing this morning. I am so sorry for your huge loss - as all the other writers have testified, chocha Rosa was a pure ray of sunshine in so many lives. Her many smiles, her kindness, her unassuming and sweet demeanor are still in my memory after all these years. I'm sure these were the qualities that endeared my own mother, Olena, to choose Rosa as her maid of honour some 50 odd years ago. You will not believe me but your Mother has been on my mind lately. I have been unexpectedly challenged with the task of memorising and reciting large chunks of prose - I'm not very good at it! But, no one that I have ever met since my early years at the Tecumseh church was better at this than your mother. She was amazing. Not only did she regularly memorise huge volumes of text, but in reciting her virshiku, she absolutely captured everyone's heart. Everyone looked forward to your mother's cherha to tell her story. I remember clearly as she tactfully unraveled her wonderful tales, she often made the whole congregation laugh out loud, in unison, from the heart. No easy task! I thought of her lately for inspiration. Now, I will think of her more than ever. As the French say during difficult times, Courage. My thoughts and special prayers are with you all. Alexandra Kostiw (and family)

Greetings Harry, Bill and Lucy! Where do I start? Memories of your mother go back to as far as I can remember --when you were still living on Northumberland Ave. My brother, sister and I always looked forward to spending Christmas'at your place, where your mother was always a kind and gracious hostess. Summers we looked forward to the picnics and camping trips --Toronto Island,High Park, Alliston, Lake Simcoe, the Ocela. Your late father, 'uncle Paul'(Dya dya Pavlo)would barbecue, while your mother. 'aunt Rose'(Teta Rosa)set the picnic table. Those were some of the best times of my life. Your mother knew how to make everyone feel truly at home! At the church, she was active in choir, the kitchen, Ladies' Circle, etc. In recent years, my mother kept in touch with your mother via long-distance, and we were always concerned with how she was doing. After living a long, and truly fruitful life, your mother has left the turmoils of this world to be with the Lord. We have the hope that someday we will be re-united with her in Eternity(but don't rush off yet!). Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers at this time of grief, Walter Rewko

Lucy, John and family, Just to let you know that you and Lucy's family are in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time. The stories that Lucy shared and hopefully will continue to share about her Mom helped me to know her and understand how blessed your family was to have her at the heart of it. May God give you strength during these next few days and may you know that your friends will be there for you always.
