Richard and I became friends in the early 1990's, when I worked for Linda & Neil Blackwell at The Village House Gallery & Earl Tarling at the We Still Care Antiques both in Lakefield. Fond memories include having breakfast at the Commercial Hotel every morning, helping Richard with the beautiful Group of Seven mural at the site of his Snowy Owl Studio., The Russian Dance Troupe party, lovely meals together at that dinner/theatre restaurant where Mother's Pizza used to be. Richard was a kind, generous and gentle soul. He will always hold a place in my heart. I feel blessed and honoured to have known you. Rest in peace, my friend.

Dear Coryn, Patrick & family: How sad it was to learn of Richard's passing. As a teacher, artist and as a friend, he encouraged me to see the bigger picture(on the canvas and in life) without getting lost in the details. A patient and gentle man! I always remember when we worked on those murals in Bridgenorth how he fondly spoke of his children- he proudly proclaimed that you were his best masterpieces! May the memories of the life you shared be a tapestry of love and comfort in the difficult days ahead. Hugs, Donna Bolam

I met Richard first at UofT in the 60s, and memories of that time will always be with me! We reconnected in the 90s when he began The Lakefield Art School, then The Art School at Peterborough. His oils, water colours, murals & pottery as well as the many memories in the hearts of all who loved him will keep him alive into the future. He was a gifted artist and a loving friend, and I will miss him greatly. My condolences to Coryn and Patrick: your father was a wonderful man! With great sadness and love, Linda.
